A drama took place in one of the most popular towns in Masuria. The tourist was attacked, beaten and robbed. The perpetrators took valuables worth over 38 thousand. zloty.

At the end of August, shocking scenes took place in the popular resort in Masuria. Two men under the cover of night broke into a room in one of the hotels and attacked a tourist.

When the 38-year-old slept, two men entered his room, who demanded money from him under threat of life. One of the perpetrators was to bother with a knife in the direction of the victim twice, and the other pour him on his head. Then both attackers were to beat a tourist, forcing obtaining information about where he keeps the money. Finally one of the men found a safe.

The Poviat Police Headquarters in Mrągowo reported that the attacker took money from the safe in the amount of PLN 2,500. Ultimately, men stealing money, exclusive sunglasses and a golden chain, with a total value of PLN 38,500. In addition, the applicant pointed out that three tires were pierced in his Porsche vehicle.

The police emphasize that there have been no similar matters in the region for decades.

“These types of events happened in the 1990s and at the beginning of the 21st century. There was peace for years,” she told PAP Podkom. Paulina Karo from the Mrągów police.

The injured person only after returning to his place of residence decided to inform law enforcement authorities about these dramatic transitions.

Detained Polish citizens and Armenia

Suspects of a robbery are already in the hands of law enforcement agencies. The first of them is a 50-year-old Pole, detained in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The prosecutor charged him with a robbery using a dangerous tool in the form of a knife and beating, as a result of which the victim suffered injuries resulting in health disorder under 7 days. The man also heard the allegation of intentional destruction of property by cutting three tires in the applicant’s vehicle, causing losses to a total amount of PLN 5,000.

The second suspect is a 45-year-old Armenia citizen who was detained in the Masovian Voivodeship. The officers also found that the detained man is a person sought after by the District Court in Łowicz to serve a replacement prison sentence of 20 days. On Friday (05/09/2025), the court shared the prosecutor’s position and decided to temporarily arrest the suspect for the next 3 months.
