The EU made a breakthrough decision to completely withdraw from the use of all heating devices using fossil fuels, including gas furnaces. For millions of households it will be a big challenge, primarily financial.

Household owners, who in recent years have invested in the exchange of outdated coal furnaces for modern gas boilers, will have another expense. The European Union has made a breakthrough decision to completely withdraw from the use of all heating devices using fossil fuels, including popular gas furnaces in Poland.

As the Warsaw website notes, Polish house owners will feel the first effects of this decision this year. This is due to the complete suspension of public financial support for the purchase and installation of gas furnaces. In practice, this means the completion of subsidies under the “Clean Air” program. The exception will be hybrid systems in which the gas boiler cooperates with renewable energy sources, performing only the function of an additional heat source during periods of peak demand or adverse weather conditions.

House owners await a gigantic expense

The website reminds that from 2030 all newly built residential facilities throughout the European Union will have to meet the strict zero -emission standard. In practice, this will mean that developers and individual investors will not be able to install any heating devices in new buildings using fossil fuels, including natural gas.

The energy transformation process in the residential sector will end in 2040, when all existing gas stoves in the EU will have to be replaced with completely ecological, non -emission heating sources. This is the result of the EU directive on the energy characteristics of buildings, whose primary goal is to completely eliminate carbon dioxide emissions from the housing and service sector.

It is estimated that the cost of transformation will be from 30 to 70 thousand. PLN for the average household, depending on the type of solution selected and the specifics of the building. For many households in Poland it will be a gigantic financial challenge, even with the support of subsidy programs.
