A blow to Andrzej Duda. The IOC announced an important decision
Sad news for Andrzej Duda. After it revealed his plans for the coming months, it turns out that the president has no chance of becoming a member of the committee.
The PKol recommendation for Andrzej Duda for a candidate for the IOC caused a lot of controversy. Doubts were raised by the course of voting and the very choice of an active politician instead of a person distinguished for Polish sport. The head of PKol Radosław Piesiewicz was to explain the rush that it was to vote on the future of the head of state at the beginning of 2025.
The president, commenting on the decision of the PKO, stated that “it is very nice.” He noted that although he is not an athlete, he is “well known in the IOC environment and has been involved in issues related to olympism for many years.”

However, as it turns out, Andrzej Duda will have to wait for a decision regarding possible membership in the Committee. The IOC has provided plans on its website for the coming months. In January there will be an extraordinary session of the Committee in Lausanneduring which the host of the V Winter Olympic Games will be selected. The meeting plans do not vote on the candidates of new IOC members.
The main meeting is scheduled for March 18-21 in Athens. The meeting agenda included Voting over re -election of 10 IOC members as part of the age limit or the election of a new president, as well Discussion on the nomination of Tony Estanguet as a member of the committee. There is not a word about the possible acceptance of Andrzej Duda’s headquarters.
This means that The president for a possible nomination – as “Przegląd Sportowy” indicates – will have to wait until 2026. At the beginning of the following year, the IOC meeting is to be held related to the Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
