Anti-drone and anti-missile protection is keeping all European countries awake at night. It turns out that the answer is Piorun, designed in Poland – an anti-aircraft missile system capable of combating air targets at close distances and low altitudes. Hand fired.
Several thousand missiles, several hundred launch mechanisms, as well as simulators and training packages will be exported to three countries. We will earn no less than PLN 8 billion from this.

Skarżyskie Mesko will deliver thousands of Piorun sets not only to the Polish Army, but also to the armies of Lithuania, Latvia and Norway. This is a historic agreement, financed largely by EU SAFE loans.
Although the exact number of missiles ordered has not been disclosed, it is estimated that there are well over 5,000 pieces. More than 80 percent is to go to the Polish armed forces. all ordered sets. The first specific executive contract is to be signed in September, during the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce.

Through the Armament Agency, Poland took on the leadership role and negotiated the terms of the contract with Mesko. The remaining partners – Lithuania, Latvia and Norway – joined the ready order, using the same conditions developed by Poland.
To benefit from SAFE money, the entire delivery must be completed by 2030.
The Mesko plant announced that it can produce 1.5 thousand Piorun missiles a year, and in the coming years this number is expected to increase to over 2,000 pieces. – Annually, the plant produces more missiles than, for example, the total production value of the US arms industry (720 Stingers per year) and France (480 Mistral units per year) – assured Jacek Matuszak from Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, to which Mesko belongs.
The Piorun anti-aircraft system has been in service with the Polish army since 2018. Currently, work is underway on the new generation – Piorun 2. It is expected to offer greater speed, maneuverability and better resistance to interference.
