A big threat before Iga Świątek’s match. People are being evacuated!
Very disturbing news comes from Spain in the context of the Billie Jean King Cup competition. It turns out that Malaga may be affected by a terrifying element.
For several hours now, there have been signals that clearly suggest that the Billie Jean King Cup competition may not take place. The final tournament takes place in Malaga, where the match between the host team, Spain, and the Polish national team is scheduled for Wednesday.
Billie Jean King Cup: Big Water in Malaga. What about matches?
The threat that may affect Malaga became loud in Polish media on Tuesday late afternoon. Information began to arrive regarding huge rainfall that would torpedo the areas of Malaga and the surrounding area. Rainfall of up to 120 mm was expected within twelve hours.
For this reason, it was decided to close the facilities, including sports facilities, in order not to make the mistake of omission – or too late information from the government – as happened in Valencia several days ago.
Interestingly, in the case of the organization of the BJKC final tournament, there was no binding information regarding the matches scheduled for Wednesday. It must be admitted that the situation is quite strange, because on the one hand, 3,000 residents of Malaga were evacuated – as a precaution – and on the other, a tennis game for stakes is about to start in this city.
It is worth adding that the Spain-Poland match is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. today, Wednesday, November 13. It will be a 1/8-final match, and the stake is to advance to the quarterfinals, where the Czech team is already waiting. In the singles competition, a match was expected between Iga Świątek and Paula Badosa, currently the best rackets among women in their countries.
The Polish team will play under the baton of coach Dawid Celt, who is the team’s captain. The Polish national tennis team included: Iga Świątek, Magda Linette, Magdalena Fręch, Maja Chwalińska and Katarzyna Kawa.
