A big change in waste segregation in one of the cities. It will start in a month

From November, there will be changes in waste segregation in Wałbrzych. Plastic bottles can be thrown into the metal and plastic container. It doesn’t end there.

From November 1, Wałbrzych is introducing changes in waste segregation. Separate containers for PET bottles will be eliminated. Plastic bottles, just like in other places, will be placed in metal and plastic containers.

Change in waste segregation in Wałbrzych

From 2021, PET bottles are segregated separately in Wałbrzych. The Walbrzych24.com website would like to remind you that there are currently containers in the city:

  • in yellow boxes intended for selective collection of municipal waste – for PET bottles,

  • at properties, black with an orange cover, intended for other packaging waste.

This means that what is thrown into yellow containers in other cities goes into black containers with orange lids.

As a result of the analyses, it was determined that optimally for waste segregation, PET bottles and plastic packaging can be placed in one container. At the installation at ul. Beethoven, modern devices effectively automatically separate various packages. Therefore, waste will continue to be separated appropriately – says Kamila Świerczyńska, spokeswoman for the City Hall, quoted by the portal.

From next month, these containers will be labeled with a new “Metals and Plastics” label. This change will make waste segregation easier for the residents of Wałbrzych, who until now had one fraction more than in other cities. Therefore, from November, the following items should be thrown away in the container designated for metals and plastics: empty plastic bottles from various drinks, empty plastic bottles from cosmetics and cleaning products, and plastic food packaging.

Containers for clothing and textiles

Since November, Wałbrzych (as one of the first cities) has also been using containers for sorting clothes and textiles. This change – as the website reminds – applies to the entire country, but from next year. From January 1, 2025, clothes, curtains, tablecloths and other textiles will have to be placed in a separate container instead of mixed waste.
