Zabytek w Dębnie Podhalańskim

Beautiful villages in Poland are great as excursion points. Some of them have unique attractions. One of them is waiting in the south of the country.

Many places have already won the title of the most beautiful villages. For some, it is Ponurzyca, providing attractions and beautiful views, for others, it is Trześcianka with the Land of Open Shutters, and for still others, Zalipie, Lesser Poland. In the mentioned region of the country there is also Dębno Podhalańskie with a treasure from the UNESCO list. Lovers of travel and unusual monuments should see it.

The most beautiful village in Małopolska

Dębno Podhalańskie became famous not only for its intimate surroundings and beautiful nature, but above all for its wooden temple built in the 15th century. This one arouses great interest because it is built without the use of nails. Tourists from Małopolska, but also from other parts of the country, come to admire the facility from the outside and inside. Architecture specialists are convinced that it is a real gem.

The environment also matters. The village, considered one of the most beautiful in Lesser Poland, is located on the Danube River, and at the same time close to the beloved Czorsztyńskie Lake. The area is considered extremely attractive because the views of the water are also combined with the mountains visible in the distance. Dębno Podhalańskie is located exactly in the Nowotarska Valley, at the foot of the Pieniny Mountains and in the vicinity of the Gorce Mountains.

The best monument of Dębno Podhalański

The unique temple that is the biggest attraction of the village is the church of St. Michael the Archangel. It looks impressive, yet modest at the same time. It owes its aesthetics to coniferous, larch and fir wood. The 15 m high tower is also impressive. At the same time, inside there are unique polychromes from over 500 years ago – from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries. The equipment also includes, among others: main altar – a painted triptych, a wooden Gothic tabernacle and sculptures of saints.

And how is it possible that the church is still standing even though no nails were used in its construction? All this is thanks to the traditional log technique – the walls are created by horizontally stacking beams one on top of the other, connected to each other in the corners only by means of specially profiled notches.

Once you’ve finished walking around the village and visiting the historic church, you can explore more nearby attractions. Nearby there are, among others: beautiful castles – in Niedzica and Czorsztyn. Dębno itself will allow you to take a break from the crowds and noise, as it is not a widely known tourist spot. If you are looking for such a place for a weekend, you will definitely be able to relax there.
