A beautiful Polish hostel will return. The abandoned building will get a new chance

Zwardoń w Beskidzie Żywieckim

This shelter in the Żywiec Beskids has been abandoned for years. Soon, however, his fate may change.

Will another object soon join the list of PTTK shelters? The search for an investor who would be interested in conducting a full renovation of the shelter in Zwardoń is underway. The initial renovation, which the destructive object has been waiting for at least fifteen years, has already begun. “The scaffoldings were spread on the spot. The work will last until 2026, although it is not excluded that they will end this year,” writes Dziennik Zachodni.

The shelter in Zwardo needs renovation

Zwardoń once had a beautiful hostel, but in 2010 it was decided to close it. PTTK “Dworzec Beskidzki” located at an altitude of 710 m above sea level, having 68 beds, was excluded from use after nearly eighty years of activity due to the financial problems of the tenant. Since then, the building has been successively falling into ruin. In recent weeks, however, a light has appeared in the tunnel. According to the president of PTTK “Karpaty”, Mariusz Szewczyk in an interview with Dziennik Zachodni, a roof will be renovated at the beginning.

“Of course, I deny rumors about demolition. We believe that the best before Zwardon. The company is looking for an investor, at the same time we are trying to raise our own funds for full renovation. EU, voivodship, from KPO are involved,” says Szewczyk.

Another shelter in the Beskids

Recently, the date of completion of the construction of another Beskid hostel has also been set. I am talking about an object located at the Małastowska Magur in the Low Beskids. His fate resembles the history of the hostel in Zwardoń – closed in 2021 for the next few years greeted tourists with closed doors and a decaying facade. “We assume that in the first quarter of 2028 we will already obtain permission to use a new facility and put it at the disposal of tourists and all visiting the Low Beskids,” said Szewczyk.
