A beautiful place in Rome invites tourists. In autumn we will enter here for free

Ogród Różany w Rzymie

The Roman Rose Garden invites everyone without exception for over a week. Here you can relax after visiting the main attractions.

The capital of Italy is rich in so many monuments and museums that a several-day visit may turn out to be a real marathon. Therefore, you need to add a place to relax in your plan, preferably surrounded by flowers.

Rose Garden. Free attraction in Rome

This autumn, it is worth visiting the rose garden on Aventine. Roses usually bloom from late April to May, and a second time in autumn. That’s why it’s worth visiting here at the end of October. Entrance is free until November 2, every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The place has an interesting history – previously there was a Jewish cemetery here. As a thank you to the Jewish community, the alleys separating the flower beds were designed in the shape of a seven-branched candlestick.

In the garden you can stroll among flowering bushes of over 1,100 species of roses from all over the world, including China and Mongolia, far from Italy. The most interesting ones include the Chinese rose Virdiflora with green petals and the Chinese rose Mutabilis, which changes color as the days go by.

Roseto Comunale is located at Via di Valle Murcia 6, close to Circo Massimo – the oldest circus in ancient Rome and the metro station of line B of the same name. Tourists visiting the famous “keyhole” – an opening in the gate with a perfect view of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican – will reach here in a 10-minute walk.

The most famous park of the Eternal City

Even if you don’t have time to visit it on the free entry days, there are plenty of green places to relax in Rome. A must-see is the Borghese Gardens – a vast park adjacent to Villa Borghese, larger than the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw. One of the most famous places is the Pincio Terrace, from which you can see the panorama of Piazza del Popolo and the Vatican. It is also worth stopping by the artificial lake next to the temple of Aesculapius.

In the Borghese gardens you will also find Polish accents – Adam Mickiewicz Street and the Henryk Sienkiewicz monument.
