A 34-year-old coach of the Polish club is dead. He died in mysterious circumstances
On Sunday, February 9, 2025, 34-year-old Antun Bačić, a coach of the Futsal Club BSF ABJ, District Bochnia, died in his apartment in Bochnia. Even the day before he led the team during the away match with Red Dragons Pniewy, ending with a 5: 3 victory. The case is examined by the prosecutor’s office.
A report about the coach’s death was received by the services on Sunday at 18:40. For now, it is not known what caused the death of a Croatian trainer.
The younger aspirant Daniel Bułatowicz from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Bochnia announced that preliminary findings exclude the participation of third parties in this event. By decision of the prosecutor, the body was secured to the autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
New information on the death of BSF Bochnia coach
Bačić was born on October 29, 1990. He began his adventure with Futsal in Croatia, where he was a player and then a coach in the clubs of MNK Square Dubrovnik and MNK Split.
He also worked as a coach of the youth national team of Croatia until 19 years old. In July 2023 he took the position of BSF ABJ coach, Bochnia poviat, where he successfully led both the first team and youth teams.
Achievements in Bochnia
Under the leadership of Bačic BSF ABJ, the Bochnia poviat continued to play in Fogo Futsal Ekstraklasie, being the only representative of Lesser Poland at this level of competition. As Futsal lovers emphasize, his commitment contributed to the development of the team, which was promoted twice to the play-off phase.
The team’s style of play was characterized by spectacle and effectiveness, which gained recognition of the fans.

The news of Bačic’s death caused sadness among activists and players. The Board of BSF ABJ Poviat Bochnia issued a statement in which his passion, knowledge and commitment to the club’s development were emphasized:
“An unusual man, a valued trainer left us, who has made a huge contribution to the club’s development with his passion, knowledge and commitment,” it was written in the communiqué.
The Lesser Poland Football Association also expressed its condolences, emphasizing Bačic’s achievements both in Poland and Croatia:
“Antun Bačić (…) led the representation of his country in the U-19 category and BSF ABJ Bochnia, where he received the task of building a team almost from scratch,” we read on the union’s website.
Planned matches canceled
In connection with the tragic event, the BSF ABJ match planned for Wednesday, the Bochnia poviat with the star of Ruda Śląska as part of the 1/8 final of the Polish Cup was canceled. The nearest league meeting with We-Met FC Kamienica Kamienica will probably not take place.
