A 12-year-old girl caught a record fish. “I fought fiercely”

In early May of this year, Sadie, Lucy and Dave Spatafore (a father and two daughters) went to the Stewart River in northern Minnesota. They were their goal from the very beginning Oncorhynchus mykiss.

And although they were counting on the largest possible specimen, they never thought that they would be able to catch a record-breaking trout.

How much did the fish weigh and how long was it? These details were published on Tuesday (June 16) by the editorial office of the foreign website Wired2Fish.

The Maple Grove resident “fought fiercely,” but the specimen refused to give up. – Finally, I managed to pull it (the fish – ed.) out. We measured the trout – it turned out to be 30 inches long (and 12.5 inches in circumference – editor’s note) – said the 12-year-old angler.

This is (respectively) as much as 76.2 and 31.75 centimeters!

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has confirmed that a new record has been set. It is also worth adding that the trout also weighed a lot – 10 pounds (over four and a half kilograms).

Let’s move from the west of the USA to the east. The DNR recently released a list of records set in Michigan, all of them last year.

There is no rainbow trout among them – but there are other fish with an equally impressive length as the one pulled from the water by a talented 12-year-old girl. Here are some examples:

February – American whitefish (Coregonus clupeaformis), 28 inches (71.12 cm) long, Lake Superior near Baraga County, northern Michigan.

June – carp (Cyprinus carpio), length 42.50 inches (107.95 cm), Ninth Street Pond, Alpena County, northeastern Michigan.

June – Blue bass (Lepomis macrochirus), length 12.10 inches (30.73 cm), Long Lake, Grand Traverse County, northwestern Michigan.
