Krzysztof Pawiński, associated with Maspex, proposed abandoning the 800 plus program in favor of much bolder social transfers. He would like to offer young parents PLN 350,000. zloty.

On the X platform, Pawiński drew attention to CenEA’s analysis of social support in Poland. The data showed that from the pool of PLN 100 billion, about PLN 23 billion actually goes to poor people, and as much as about 80 percent to the middle and upper classes. About PLN 17 billion is supported by 20 percent. the richest people in terms of income.

800+ doesn’t work. Is it better to give 350 thousand?

“Regardless of the valuable attempts at measurement, it is an extremely difficult and emotionally tense issue. We already know that the pro-demographic measure 800+ is a fiction. Having many children is also a thing of the past,” the entrepreneur said on this basis.

In his opinion, the focus should be on encouraging a second child in the family. “Instead of an 800+ drip, a one-time payment after the birth of the second child in the amount of approximately PLN 350,000. ~ 2 children x 18 years x 12 months x PLN 800,” he enumerated.

“For this amount, the family could implement significant changes, e.g. enlarging/contributing to the purchase of an apartment. Will it work? It’s hard to say… but we have to look for it. The first child is joy and happiness, the second is generational responsibility and state support, and subsequent children are an expression of our personal attitude and values,” he concluded.

Limiting additional pensions and 800 plus?

Director of CenEA, Ph.D. Michał Myck called for a real debate on the direction of changes in the topic of supporting families. In his opinion, over PLN 102 billion each year is not distributed properly because it does not take into account either the level of income or the needs of families.

CenEA does not go as far as Pawlicki and instead of a one-time amount, it would prefer income thresholds, e.g. at the thirteenth and fourteenth pension. According to its experts, limiting additional pensions and introducing the income criterion in the 800+ program would bring budget savings of PLN 3.9 billion and PLN 8.1 billion, respectively.
