How is this ranking created?

The Ranking of Europe’s Best Cities evaluates metropolitan areas with a population exceeding 500,000. The authors combine traditional statistical data from sources such as Eurostat and national statistical offices with user-generated information from digital platforms such as Google, TripAdvisor and Instagram. The company notes that it is focusing on factors that “show a moderate to strong correlation with city regions’ performance in attracting a working-age population (25-44 years old).” This makes their vision of an attractive place to live particularly appealing to young adults.

The data is combined in a proprietary model that evaluates cities in three key pillars: quality of life, attractiveness and prosperity. Together, these dimensions reflect both “the functional effectiveness of cities and the way they are perceived in the world.”

The best podiums were taken by London, Paris and Berlin.
