5,000 plus for over 3 million employees. A new proposition in the game

The middle of the year is the time when the discussion regarding next year’s minimum wage begins. Official negotiations on this matter between employers and the trade union will begin soon.

More and more is known what proposals may appear on the table this year. As Money.pl found out, three trade union headquarters prepared a joint proposal for a raise. NSZZ “Solidarność”, the Trade Union Forum and the All-Poland Agreement of Trade Unions together demand that the minimum wage increase by at least 8.2 percent next year.

Will the minimum wage increase to PLN 5,200?

Currently, the lowest national amount is PLN 4,806 gross. If the trade unionists’ demand came true, it would increase to PLN 5,200 gross, i.e. almost PLN 400 more than currently.

This proposal will certainly be difficult for employers to accept. The portal reminds that recently the Chief Economist of the Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs, Łukasz Kozłowski, estimated that the minimum wage could increase in 2027 to PLN 4,860.47 or PLN 4,974.92 gross. Kozłowski considered the government’s long-term macroeconomic assumptions for 2026-2030 as the starting point for these calculations.

The government itself (specifically the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy), as revealed by “Fakt” a week ago, proposed that the national minimum wage next year should not be lower than PLN 4,927 gross.

Let us remind you that negotiations on the minimum wage are conducted within the Social Dialogue Council. If trade unionists fail to reach an agreement with employers, the government will make a decision on this matter. He has until September 15 to do so.

Estimates of the Ministry of Labor show that approximately 15% of people in Poland receive the minimum wage. all employees, i.e. over 3 million people.
