42 thousand fans carried Natalia Kaczmarek. The Pole snatched the podium!
It seemed that Natalia Kaczmarek would not stand on the podium during the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzów, but she was great at the finish. The Pole took third place!
Natalia Kaczmarek is having a great season. This year she became the European champion, won the bronze Olympic medal and, in addition, broke the Polish record twice in the 400-meter race. She therefore entered the competition in Chorzów during the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial, which is also a Diamond League meeting, in an excellent mood. She dreamed of success in front of the Polish audience, which gathered in large numbers at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów.
Kaczmarek caught up with her rivals
For a long time it seemed that this time Natalia Kaczmarek would not stand on the podium. It was clearly visible that her most dangerous opponents were running away. The Pole probably recorded a slightly weaker first part of the distance than usual. However, the 26-year-old has a habit of never giving up. Carried by the huge applause of 42 thousand fans, she moved forward.
Before the final straight she was losing about six meters to Rhasidat Adeleke, but her rival could not keep up the deadly pace, and the Pole finished in her own style. At the finish line she was better than the representative of Ireland, achieving a time of less than 50 seconds (49.95). The triumphant was the Olympic champion Marileida Paulino (48.66), and the second place was taken by the athlete from Bahrain Salwa Eid Naser. The podium was therefore identical to the one in Paris during the games.
Kaczmarek talks about his form
– This form is a bit like summer, I won’t deny it. But I fought and I’m glad I managed to get that third place. The support of the audience was incredible. I thought I would cry before the race – said Natalia Kaczmarek hot after the race in front of the TVP Sport camera.
At the same time, our champion admitted that this was her last start over 400 meters this year. She will have a few more races ahead of her, but she is giving up on the crowning distance.
