The scale of the project is hugely impressive: 355 foundation piles, thousands of meters of drilling and 64 floors of luxury apartments overlooking the sea. TM Tower will take over the title from Złota 44. A new icon of European apartment buildings is growing in Spain
The European residential high-rise race is entering a new phase. The TM Tower being built in Benidorm, Spain, is to reach 230 meters in height and thus take away the title of the tallest residential building in the European Union from Warsaw’s Złota 44. The developer, the Spanish company TM Grupo Inmobiliario, has just completed a key construction stage – the construction of the base of the tower and the ground floor ceiling, from which the construction of the above-ground part will begin.
The new apartment building will be 38 meters and 12 storeys higher than Złota 44 in Warsaw. Ultimately, the building will reach 64 floors and will become a new symbol of luxury residential construction on the Mediterranean Sea.
Foundation for a structure weighing 85,000. tone
Completion of the construction of the ground floor ceiling means completion of one of the most demanding technical stages of the entire investment. The scale of the project is impressive even compared to other European housing megaprojects.
355 foundation piles with a depth of up to 16 meters were made for the structure. In total, this means 3,588 meters of drilling. 5,319 m³ of concrete and 245 tons of steel were used to construct the base.
The structure designed in this way is to support a building with a total weight of approximately 85,000. tone. The developer vividly compares this value to the mass of 8.5 times the Eiffel Tower or nearly 200 large passenger planes. The foundation stage itself cost approximately EUR 2 million.
Now the investment is entering its most spectacular phase – the construction of a tower above ground level, which will gradually begin to change the panorama of Benidorm.
Benidorm strengthens its position as the European capital of high-rise buildings
TM Tower is being built on the Poniente beach in Benidorm – a city associated with intense high-rise development and the Mediterranean lifestyle for decades. The project includes 260 apartments and over 10,000 sq m. m² of common spaces.
The building will include, among others: heated swimming pools, wellness zones, sports infrastructure, a cinema room and a panoramic sky bar with an astronomical observatory on the top floor. The architects were inspired by the organic form of sea coral, which is to be visible in the sculptural silhouette of the tower.
The investment value is estimated at EUR 140 million. According to the developer, over 40 percent apartments have been reserved, even though construction is scheduled to be completed only in the summer of 2028.
A symbolic moment for Warsaw and Złota 44
For Polish high-rise architecture, the project has a symbolic dimension. Złota 44, designed by Daniel Libeskind, has remained for years the most recognizable apartment building in Europe and one of the key elements of the modern skyline of Warsaw.
However, TM Tower will take over the leadership position in the category of residential building heights in the European Union, shifting the architectural center of gravity from Central Europe to the Spanish Costa Blanca.
It is also a signal of changes in the premium real estate market. For several years now, the Spanish coast has remained one of the most active shopping destinations for foreign investors, including Poles looking for holiday apartments and investment properties.
Over EUR 400 million of investment in Benidorm
TM Grupo Inmobiliario emphasizes that the project is part of the long-term development strategy of Benidorm. Over the last decade, the company has invested over EUR 400 million in the city.
– Over the last ten years, we have transformed Benidorm into an international reference point and enabled thousands of families to start a new life on the Mediterranean Sea – emphasizes Pablo Serna, CEO of TM Grupo Inmobiliario.
Thanks to TM Tower, Benidorm will mark its position even more strongly on the map of European high-rise architecture, and the investment itself has a chance to become one of the most spectacular residential projects currently being implemented in Europe.
