150 Tourists Suddenly Lost Their Vacations: Their Cottages Turned Out to Be Illegal
No one would want to experience such an adventure on vacation. Over a hundred tourists were asked to leave their rented cottages. It turned out that someone had built them there illegally.
The situation took place in Calabria in the south of the country. Local authorities confiscated over 100 houses because it turned out they were built illegally. The building stood on an archaeological site. A court decision was to remove the “obstacles”.
Tourists lost their holidays
In the aforementioned cottages in the city of Reggio Calabria, unsuspecting tourists were vacationing. It is known that about 150 of them had serious problems – they suddenly lost their paid vacations. The forces of law and order entered the aforementioned areas when people were staying at the resort. Everyone had to leave.
The whole complex looked credible and operated under the name “Perla Jonica”. It was supposed to be a campsite, but over time more and more holiday homes began to be built there; some were sold, others were rented out to tourists in the summer. The area encouraged visitors, because it was close to the sea and beautiful landscapes.
It came to light that some of the buildings in the holiday resort had been built contrary to the terms of the concession granted. It only provided for the construction of a roofed structure with an area of 160 square meters, while in fact it was currently 6 thousand square meters.
Illegal cottages in Calabria
At the request of the court, police, carabinieri and officers of the Financial Guard entered the coastal area on Thursday, July 25, where prefabricated holiday homes are densely built. The investigation established that they were built more than 30 years ago without the required consent.
How did such a mistake happen? It was probably done deliberately, with full awareness of breaking the law. Local media emphasized that the action carried out in Reggio Calabria is an important step towards restoring the rule of law and protecting natural and cultural areas that require special care.
It should be remembered that the tourists who were vacationing in the aforementioned areas were not to blame for the entire incident. They were injured and suddenly their vacation turned into a nightmare. Unfortunately, there are various situations all over the world that make vacations not look as they should. This happens, among others, due to fraudsters, accidents or climate disasters.
