Ok that is enough about you. Now answer some questions.
- What is your favourite colour?
Purple. It's regal, just like my commanding planet Jupiter
What style of music do you listen to when you are at home?
Love jazz, especially Smooth, Latin and fusion variations. But fortunate are those who love most kinds of music. As a musician that includes me, I think!
- What is your favourite TV show?
Starsky & Hutch and The Professionals. Some say I learned to drive watching those cops and robbers shows. Have also enjoyed radio-related comedies, like Frasier and WKRP In Cincinnati, as a guide to how not to make radio!
- What makes the art of radio so special?
It fills a vital gap between press and television, neither of which can emulate good old radio. Radio requires productions that are more graphic and which leave nothing to guessing. We have to assist the listener and then the listener must have the intellectual capacity to imagine the scene portrayed by the radio show. It is a smart person's media. No fodder here! And that is why it will never die. People may have iPods and music recommendations made by a website. But that is still only good if you have an idea of what you want to listen to. Radio can make you discover music rather than just receive it. Radio treats the listener like an individual. No other media has that level of generosity to respect its audience.
- Which person from history do you admire the most and why?
President Jozef Pilsudski. I was born exactly one hundred years after him. He helped to form Poland's independence in the Inter-War years and fostered tolerance to all races living in Poland. He was feared by Stalin but respected by adversary Hitler.
- Who do people say you look like?
That man on the radio we can never see. If looks could kill, eh?
- What is your biggest dislike in life?
Those plastic giveaway carrier bags at supermarkets. I hate to lick fingers and it's a struggle to separate them so that the groceries can go in! Also, what is this trend for couples to have one dash to "reserve" a place at the cashier queue while the other gradually appears with the trolley? Yes, that's in supermarkets. And then there is...
- If you found a wallet on the street with a name and address, would you present it the nearest Police Station, and why?
If there was a phone number, I would attempt to first reach the person who lost the item. No offence cops!
- Anything else you would like to share with the listeners?
I am proud that ORLA.fm has served the community well since launch in May 2006. We have seen 100 people come through our studio doors as presenters, reporters, editors, production staff, marketing executives, and internet programmers. Some of them have gone on to be television celebrities, radio broadcasters elsewhere, club DJs. It is great to see people who have developed and recall their formative stages with us. But sometimes it is the other way around: in one case a budding presenter came to us after becomong Miss Poland in the Miss World contest.
