It is with much sorrow that we learned of the loss of Irena Jarocka this weekend, aged 65. As a gifted singer in her 1960s and 1970s heyday and an amiable personality, she captured the attention of fans of several generations, most notably recently when she recorded new material and planned to record more. I recall my mother listening to her songs from Radio Warszawa while in exile abroad in the 1970s and those songs remain in our memory now, and for ever more. Songs like super hit "Kawiarenki". In 2008 she had a hit with "Małe Rzeczy". And she was still recording in 2010, offering us a Christmas song "Poniewaz znów sa Swieta"and the same year recorded a single with American singer Michael Bolton "Break Free". We will miss her standard and can only hope that other artists learn that it is not what you take but what you give that we will remember you for. We at Radio ORLA.fm in London offer our sincere condolences to Irena's family. It seems appropriate to say that her song sums it up so well: "Nie wrócą te lata"
